News Item: On Wednesday, November 6, the Walmart website “displayed wildly low prices Wednesday morning, such as a kayak for $11 or a treadmill for $33, according to news reports and Walmart. There was even a $579 projector available for $8.85” (The New York Times). Evidently, the problem was the result of internal errors and not a hacker attack. Walmart claimed to have the problem resolved by Wednesday night.

News Item: Black Friday was apparently even darker for some shoppers attempting to access the Walmart website “looking to pick up [the] company’s … deals.” A specific system Walmart used to offer online shoppers vouchers for temporary out-of-stock items was fraught with delays and problematic vouchers (www.GeekWire.com).
